Acadian Village
Acadian Village, 5 mi. n. on US 1, includes 17 reconstructed buildings. Among them are dwellings and a general store, country schoolhouse, blacksmith shop and chapel, all of which depict the late 18th-century to the early 20th-century culture of the St. John Valley. Grand Falls and Gorge
Grand Falls and Gorge is best viewed from the Malabeam Reception Centre on the bridge that extends e. from Broadway, crossing the Saint John River gorge. A 23-metre (75-ft.) cataract gives Grand Falls its name. On either side of the river, the Malabeam and La Rochelle reception centers offer information about the area’s natural and human history. A stairway at La Rochelle leads to Wells-in-Rocks, a series of deep potholes. A boat ride is offered (weather and water conditions permitting). Guided tours are available by appointment. New Denmark Memorial Museum
New Denmark Memorial Museum is 14 km (8 mi.) s. on Hwy. 2, then 6 km (4 mi.) to Lake Edward, following signs. Founded in 1872, New Denmark was the first Danish settlement in Canada. Nylander Museum
Nylander Museum, 657 Main St., contains the extensive collections of rocks, minerals, fossils, shells, marine specimens and American Indian artifacts of Swedish-born Olof Nylander. A self-taught naturalist, Nylander spent his life amassing and classifying—an effort that gained him an honorary Master of Science degree from the University of Maine. Regional Potato Festival
the Regional Potato Festival celebrates the contribution of the agriculture industry. This event coincides with the end of June and beginning of July, during the Canada Day weekend.
