Yarmouth on Nova Scotia’s Acadian Coast is officially 250 years old after 2011’s year full of celebrations. Boasting the warmest winter temperatures in Atlantic Canada, Yarmouth and the Acadian Shores region of Nova Scotia are by all definitions cold. Famous for the 75 foot tall Cape Forchu Lightstation, the first applecore style lighthouse, the Yarmouth area makes a great destination to explore. Although the Cape Forchu lighthouse is closed for the winter, it is worth the 10 minute drive to see the picture perfect setting.
Winter in Nova Scotia is ideal for snowshoeing in Kejimkujik National Park and National Historic Site. Enjoy winter’s scenery with a Sleigh Ride along the trails of Ross Farm Museum or trace your history at the Thomas Raddall Research Library at Liverpool’s Queens County Museum.
